This is an original internal battery replacement designed for the MacBook Pro 15-inch Retina Mid 2014 and Mid 2015 models with regulatory model number A1398 (MacBookPro11,2 / MacBookPro11,5). These later Retina 15-inch units use a different internal battery than Mid 2012 through Late 2013 A1398 models.
Mid 2014 A1398 uses Apple battery model A1494 (99 Wh). Mid 2015 A1398 uses A1618 (99 Wh) with Force Touch trackpad — both share the same battery fitment for this generation. Replacement is typically required when the battery no longer holds charge, drains quickly, or shows a Service Battery warning.
Not compatible with Mid 2012 / Early 2013 / Late 2013 A1398 (A1417 battery). Verify year and model before ordering.
